5. Appearance: Kasumi is a shorter, athletic girl with more curves than an average kunoichi (though since coming of age, she's decided to downplay that fact). She has short black hair and pale blue eyes, as well as pale skin. She prefers the wear the color red, and her clothes are often suited for movement more than anything else. She doesn't wear a proper kunoichi attire so much anymore, though, due to her status as Vice-Chancellor of Rokkaku requiring a more publicly presentable appearance. AKA, she needed to dress less like a soldier and more like a diplomat. It's often difficult for her to compromise, but she's found she actually enjoys prettying herself up.

Key in her appearance, though, is a pink silk scarf that she ALWAYS WEARS. No matter what outfit, she will have the pink scarf. Rumor has it there is a strong sentimental value attached to it, but she will neither confirm or deny this.

6. Personality: Kasumi is a hard working and loyal person, whom represents the ideals and principles of Rokkaku kunoichi very well. Her loyalty is considered an example to other ninjas, male or female, from the village. On the battlefield, she is focused and calm. This wasn't always the case, of course, given she was still prone to emotion leaking into battle during her chuu-nin years in the Toran Liberation War, but as she has matured she has become the perfect example of how a ninja should behave in combat.

HOWEVER

Outside of battle, she is very much your average village girl with a bright smile and a kind heart. She has compassion not just for other people, but for animals as well and the natural world around her in general. Though, in spite of this, she is fascinated by city life, particularly by shopping. She enjoys participating in vain indulgences such as hair styling, manicures, and the like. Making herself attractive has earned her the silent favor of many an admirer amongst the boys in the hamlet, though she's really only ever had eyes for one person... A shame she's awful at romantic things. She can barely bring herself to speak a word to the man she loves at times. As a ge-nin and chuu-nin, she never spent much time paying attention to things like that. So by the time she finally was hit with infatuation, she had no idea what to do with it.

7. Weapons: Like many ninja, Kasumi has a larger arsenal of weapons than the average fighter, in spite of only using one in the game itself. Here is a list of that she carries:

Main Weapon - Max Sakura - Like many chuu-nin and jou-nin, Kasumi has taken to the use of a wrist mounted claw as a primary means of offense. Max Sakura is a single digit blade, having a shape similar to that of a fallen cherry blossom. It is exceptionally sharp, but not very good at defense. Her skill with claws is second only to her subordinate, Mondo, though.
Sub Weapon(s) - Kunai - Based on digging spades, kunai are used as throwing are heavier than shuriken but are capable of being used in hand-to-hand combat in a pinch as a short dagger. They are noted for a unique shape, having a wide, thick blade and a ring at the end of the handle for better control.
Shuriken - Not actually stars, but simple dart-like knives that can be thrown several at a time from a distance. They are not as heavy as the kunai, and therefore do less damage.
Kusari - A length of thin chain with a weight at the end. It can be used for ensnaring or as a grappling hook of sorts.


She is able to keep all of these weapons on her at all times, save the claw itself which is kept at her side when in non combat situations. All of them are completely hidden, and only another ninja of jou-nin rank would even be able to discover their location.

8. Occupation: Kasumi is a jou-nin rank kunoichi, meaning she is the highest rank of ninja in Rokkaku. Only ninja from high tier families are allowed to achieve the rank, as it is considered the equivalent of a commander. This rank leaves her capable of many things, from espionage to assassination. Kasumi, in particular, has primary duties as a representative of Rokkaku, holding the title of Vice-Chancellor. Her rank as a jou-nin also gives her exceptional skill in the three major branches of ninjitsu; taijitsu (martial arts), genjitsu (illusion arts), and ninjitsu (magic arts).

9. Talents: Kasumi is a skilled gymnast, having excelled at the motion aspects of taijitsu during her training at Sparrow Manner. She also has an eye for fashion, developed since after the Toran Liberation War. She excels at athletics in general, though, and likes to keep herself in top condition by exercising every day.

10. Runes: Shrike Rune, which allows her to unlock an ultimate taijitsu attack, Earth Rune, for defensive magic as well as implementing genjitsu, and a Poison Rune embedded to Max Sakura.

11. Weaknesses: Kasumi can be loyal to a fault. This loyalty often causes her to push herself to her limits both physically and mentally. An example would be her almost dying in her attempt to reach Toran Castle, having never stopped for sustenance or rest. She is also not all that great with exploring her deeper emotions, having been raised like all ninja to not develop strong connections beyond that of the master/retainer relationship. This is why she's an idiot with love and is a bit reluctant about closer friendships with people who aren't actually ninja. This does NOT make her anti-social by any means, being probably the most social of all ninja in the series. She is simply not certain where the boundaries are at times.

12. History (include any modifications for RPG purposes): Kasumi was born to a high tier ninja family in Rokkaku. Given her family's rank, as well as their connection to Chancellor Hanzo, she was immediately enrolled into the Sparrow Manor as a kunoichi-in-training. It was there she she learned the skills of her trade, honing motor skills, critical thinking skills, and learning the three major arts of ninjitsu.

Kasumi was a well balanced student in particular, excelling at all three arts. Her natural magical strength wasn't very high, but she still managed well with support ninjitsu as well as genjitsu. What was more remarkable, though, was her ability in taijitsu. Her fluidity of movement was often described like that of a falling cherry blossom on the wind. She was able to shift her direction nearly instantaneously and not lose momentum. Add to that her strength was tremendous, using that gymnastics specialty to pull needed strength from any part in her body at any given time.

It was this skill that earned her the right to bear an ancient ninja rune, the Shrike. With that rune, she was able to perform the ultimate taijitsu attack. It wasn't long before she graduated and began work as a ge-nin, or rookie ninja. She held this rank until she was 15, having shown enough excellence to proceed to the chuu-nin rank, or soldier ninja. However...

It was at this time that relations between the normally autonomous hamlet and the Scarlet Moon Empire spiked into full aggression. A false rumor had been spread within the Imperial Army that the ninjas were siding with South Window to the north in an attempt to finally overtake the border. The full force of Teo McDohl's unit was brought upon the hamlet, destroying it almost completely. The ninja were caught completely off guard, and many were killed. Kasumi was given direct orders from Lord Hanzo to seek out the Liberation Army and avenge them...

Kasumi made the journey south to Toran Castle, not once stopping for food or for sleep. She had heard stories of the great hero Tir McDohl. She had also heard of his heart, and knew that he would be able to save them. To avenge the deaths of Lord Hanzo, her friends, and family. What she didn't know is the toll battling his own father would take on Tir... She cursed herself for her selfishness, and rather than leaving to go rebuild Rokkaku, she decided she would remain by Tir's side. She had seen, first hand, what the war was doing to Tir. If her presence could comfort him... to help him in any way... she would do whatever he asked. Her loyalty to him was more than just that. She had fallen in love.

Though, by the time the war came to an end, she had found herself completely unable to communicate this to him. And in a mixed blessing, Lord Hanzo and her family revealed themselves to be alive and in hiding as the tides drew to a close. Torn between a want to follow Tir and confess her feelings to him, and a need to be there for her village, she felt confused and alone. Though, on the last night she ever saw him, he gave her some advice... to go where she was wanted, but to go where she was needed. Rokkaku needed her more than he did. And so, with his blessing (and the closest to a kiss she had ever gotten), she returned to the hamlet to begin the reconstruction.

Three years later, Kasumi had not only achieved the rank of jou-nin (the second youngest to achieve the rank in history), but had also been named the Vice Chancellor of Rokkaku, a diplomat to the Toran Republic. A great war was waging in the north between the City States of Jowsten and the Kingdom of Highland. In desperation, the young commander of the Dunan Army came to Toran seeking aid. It was a monumental moment in history, given Jowsten and Toran had been at war many times in the past. Kasumi had been in the audience chamber of President Lepant that day, and saw in the eyes of Riou something very familiar...

She volunteered herself as the commander of Toran's loan forces to the Dunan Army, offering the full cooperation of the Rokkaku Hamlet as well with their efforts. She grew to be friendly, almost in a sisterly sense, to the young Riou. He was so much like Tir... At times it hurt, seeing that he too was burdened by the war, particularly when his former friend Jowy Atriedes ascended to the throne of Highland and continued the war in spite of Luca Blight's death. But that was also what gave her faith in victory. Little did she know that her faith and companionship with the young commander would lead her to a faithful reunion...

In a trip to gain supplies from the Rokkaku Hamlet that Kasumi suggested, a trip through Banner Village would lead them across none other than the former commander of the Toran Liberation Army, Tir McDohl. She and Riou aided her former commander in saving a local boy from some violent bandits as well as a monstrous moth, and Tir found himself forced to return to Gregminster in order to seek healing for the boy. In that time, Tir found himself reunited with many of his friends and subordinates from the war... but particularly with Kasumi.

She could barely manage to speak a word to him. It had been so long. The love in her heart was still strong. He looked like he had barely aged a day since the last time she had seen him, and he still had that endearing quality. Much to her surprise, the combined efforts of Tir's closest friends, as well as Riou, convinced Tir to lend his aid to the cause in the Dunan Unification War. Privately, she was elated, but outwardly remained calm. A chance to fight at his side once more... it was more than she could have dreamed of.

But it could not last. And once again, he was gone from her life before she could speak of her true feelings. And this time, there wasn't even a consideration of the choice of following him. She knew she had a duty to fulfill. But he had at least been kind enough to escort herself, Mondo, and Sasuke back to Rokkaku. She had but one last moment alone with him to spend. And she could only smile. No words were exchanged. They didn't have to. Maybe he really did understand her feelings... She didn't want to see him walk away, though, so instead, this time, she would be the one to turn first. And in the flurry of leaves that were drawn up by the wind, she would begin the next chapter of her life.
